Now, more than ever, underserved schools need support. One area which often takes a back seat is the Arts. Many studies clearly demonstrate the importance of the Arts in education.
According to Dr. Anna Muhlhauser, a clinical psychologist and a Co-Chair of the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts Ovations Committee explains, “Arts in education helps students learn and develop in important areas such as critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making. There is a clear correlation between active participation in the Arts and academic achievement.” In fact, according to a study by Americans for the Arts, young people who regularly participate in the Arts are four times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement.

PractiSource is excited to once again be a sponsor of the Bushnell’s annual fundraiser Ovations, which directly supports their nationally recognized award-winning education program, PARTNERS® (Partners in Arts and Education Revitalizing Schools). PARTNERS® delivers arts-integrated lessons to underserved school districts in the Greater Hartford area. The program, now in its 28th year, reaches 15,000+ students annually at more than 30 area schools, fostering creativity and a renewed excitement for learning.

Last year, Ovations raised more than $300,000.00 for this worthy cause. However, 2021 fundraising is being challenged by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. With resources stretched thin and social distancing restrictions temporarily suspending in-person gala attendance, your support is now more critical – and more greatly appreciated – than ever.
