BREAKING NEWS – CMS extends 5010 deadline

November 4, 2013

Part B News

BREAKING NEWS: CMS has delayed HIPAA 5010 enforcement again until June 30, according to a March 15 CMS news release. Providers now have an extra three months to comply with the 5010 standard and send claims via the 4010 format. Remember, CMS first extended the enforcement deadline late 2011 to give providers more time comply. But the agency extended the deadline again to account for additional kinks in the transition that need to be worked out.
