She’s one of the smartest people I have ever met. I would even argue that she might be an even bigger champion of the independent physician than I am. Jeanne Chamberlin accidentally walked into my professional life at a dry cleaners in Chapel Hill … still the best errand I’ve run to date.
Jeanne joined MSOC after being the administrator of Chapel Hill Internal Medicine and a client of MSOC Health (I think we might have been just MSOC back then 😊). During her tenure as a client, Jeanne certainly challenged us and made us a better organization. It was a fantastic relationship, and one in which helped MSOC grow as an organization – both because of the practice and also because of Jeanne.
Fortunately for me, Jeanne had another great idea … she thought maybe we should work together.
And again, fortunately for me, I listened and agreed she would be a fantastic addition to the MSOC family.
Now, for those of you who know me and those who know Jeanne, we are not exactly on the same page ideologically … However, we both are passionate about healthcare. During her tenure with MSOC Health, she helped formulate our organization into many successful ventures. She forced me to learn what objective thinking really is, and she and I worked through some of the regulatory issues to try to help practices. Quite honestly, Jeanne put MSOC Health even more on the map as an organization of excellent talent.
Jeanne developed into one of the national experts on MIPS and MACRA in her final years at MSOC. We could not have been prouder – all of us. She was a regular go-to person – not only in NC but throughout the country.
I will say what I will miss the most is our philosophical discussions about healthcare as an industry and as a moral obligation to the world. They have been fantastic coffee meanderings that I have mandated she must come back to do.
In the end though, I will miss my friend. I will miss someone who luckily for me needed her clothes dry cleaned at the same time I did. As Forrest Gump said …
I don’t know if we each have a destiny, or if we’re all just floating around accidental-like on a breeze, but I, I think maybe it’s both. Maybe both is happening at the same time.

Sadly for us, Jeanne will be retiring at the end of June. However, it is a time to celebrate for her as a person. Thank you Jeanne for floating into my world and the MSOC family. I truly appreciate everything you have accomplished professionally and even more so appreciate your friendship. I hope your sunset days of travel are filled with joy and happiness. You earned it.
